Launched in September 2016, the DJI Matrice 600 Pro was the reference platform for high-end aerial cinematography and heavy industrial inspection for nearly a decade. A hexacopter with triple-redundant A3 Pro flight control, the M600 Pro supported cinema cameras like the RED, ARRI Alexa Mini, and Sony Venice via the Ronin-MX gimbal. DJI technical support ends on May 29, 2026.

Payload and Camera Compatibility

With 6 kg payload capacity, the M600 Pro was one of the few drones capable of carrying full-size cinema cameras. Compatible payloads included the entire DJI Zenmuse lineup (X3, X5, X5R, Z3, Z30, XT thermal) and the Ronin-MX gimbal for third-party cameras.

For film productions requiring RAW cinema footage from altitude — a requirement that the Inspire 3's integrated system now handles better — the M600 Pro was the professional's only practical option for several years.

Triple-Redundant A3 Pro Flight System

The A3 Pro flight controller with triple IMU and triple GNSS redundancy was designed for reliability in high-value payload operations. If one IMU or GPS unit failed mid-flight, the aircraft continued to fly stably on the remaining systems.

Current Status

With support ending May 2026 and the DJI Inspire 3 providing a superior cinema drone solution, the M600 Pro is a legacy platform. Remaining units in active use should have fleet succession plans in place before the support cutoff.
