How We Work

PickDrones is a drone news and analysis publication. We are transparent about how our coverage is produced so readers can judge it on its merits.

Our Sources

Our model overviews, guides, and news are built from primary and verifiable sources:

  • Manufacturer documentation - official specifications, pricing, manuals, and press materials from DJI, Autel, Parrot, Skydio, and others.
  • Regulators - civil aviation authorities such as the FAA, EASA, and ANAC for rules, registration, and airspace requirements.
  • Independent reporting and reviews - established outlets and the broader community of pilots and owners, whose hands-on results we aggregate and attribute.

What We Do, and What We Do Not Do

PickDrones is not a hands-on testing lab. We do not claim to have personally flown or bench-tested every drone we cover. When we cite real-world figures, such as effective flight time versus the rated maximum, we attribute them to manufacturers, independent reviewers, or owner reports rather than presenting them as our own measurements.

What we add is research, context, and clarity: comparing models, explaining specs in plain language, tracking regulation, and following the industry closely. That editorial work has been our focus since ODrones was founded in 2015.
